年代	生平經歷
1921	Friedrich Reinhold Dürrenmatt is born on 5 January in Konolfingen (Canton Bern)；狄倫馬特於1月5日出生於科諾爾芬根 (伯恩州) 。
1941– 46	He attends the Zurich and Bern universities, studying German and art history, and subsequently philosophy. He attempts his first professional writing, while painting and drawing as well. 他就讀蘇黎世以及伯恩大學，主修德語和藝術歷史，隨後也修了哲學。他嘗試以寫作為其專業，同時兼顧繪畫及素描。
1946	Dürrenmatt decides to become a writer and breaks off his academic studies. He marries the actress Lotti Geissler and they move to Basel. 狄倫馬特選擇了退學並決定成為專業作家。同年他與女演員洛蒂·吉斯勒結婚，兩人移居巴塞爾。
1947	The premiere of the play 《It Is Written》 at the Zurich Schauspielhaus creates controversy. His son Peter is born. 他的劇本《寫在書上》在蘇黎世劇院首演並引起了爭議。他的兒子彼得出生。
1948	Moves to Ligerz and Schernelz on Lake Biel. His daughter Barbara is born. 移居位於比爾湖的利格茲城鎮。他的女兒芭芭拉出生。
1951	Commissioned by the magazine Der Schweizerische Beobachter, Dürrenmatt writes crime novels including 《The Judge and His Hangman》. He is diagnosed with diabetes. Birth of his daughter Ruth. 受 Der Schweizerische Beobachter 雜誌委託，狄倫馬特開始編寫犯罪小說，包含《法官和他的劊子手》。同年他也被診斷出患有糖尿病。他的女兒露絲出生。
1952	Dürrenmatt acquires a house in Neuchâtel. German breakthrough in Munich with the premiere of the comedy 《The Marriage of Mr. Mississippi》. 狄倫馬特在納沙泰爾購買一棟房子。他的喜劇《密西西比先生的婚姻》在慕尼黑首演並在德語界獲得名譽。
1956	World premiere of 《The Visit》 at the Schauspielhaus Zurich. 《老婦還鄉》在蘇黎世劇院全球首演。
1962	World premiere of 《The Physicists》 in Zurich. Dürrenmatt becomes the most performed author on the German stage. 《物理學家》在蘇黎全球首演。狄倫馬特成為德語界舞台表演最出色的作家。
1969	Friedrich Dürrenmatt suffers a heart attack. He is awarded the Berner Literaturpreis (Bern literature prize). 狄倫馬特心臟病發作。他被授予伯恩文學獎。
1978	A comprehensive exhibition of Dürrenmatt’s paintings and drawings is shown at the Daniel Keel Gallery in Zurich. 位於蘇黎世的Daniel Keel 畫廊全面展出狄倫馬特的畫作。
1980	A 29-volume edition of his works is published by Arche and in paperback by Diogenes. 共29冊組成的狄倫馬特作品系列由Arche以及Diogenes (平裝書)出版。
1983	His wife Lotti Dürrenmatt-Geissler dies. 妻子洛蒂·狄倫馬特 - 吉斯勒逝世。
1984	The director and actress Charlotte Kerr shoots the film "Portrait of a Planet", together with Dürrenmatt. They get married. 狄倫馬特與女導演、演員夏洛特·克爾拍攝電影Portrait of a Planet並後續結婚。
1989	Friedrich Dürrenmatt bequeaths his literary estate to the Swiss Confederation, thereby triggering the foundation of the Swiss Literary Archives. 狄倫馬特將其文學遺產遺贈給瑞士聯邦，從而觸發了瑞士國家文學檔案館的成立。
1990	Friedrich Dürrenmatt dies in Neuchâtel on 14 December. 狄倫馬特12月14日於納沙泰爾逝世。
